Consonant (b,c,d,f,g,h,j,k,l,m,n,p,q,r,s,t,v,w,x,y,z) + y = i + ed e.g. study→studied
Vowel (a,e,i,o,u) + consonant = double consonant + ed e.g. stop→stopped
